Polar Star Profile: Mac Mintz

The newest member of the Polar team is Mac Mintz. Mac has been with Polar just about a month now, and was hired as a Systems Analyst. He is also a highly skilled network engineer. Mac feels that his position at Polar is a great fit for him because he enjoys problem solving and working and sharing ideas with interesting people.

Before joining Polar Mac was the Information Security Officer with the University Medical Center in Las Vegas, and he was also a Technology Auditor with Clark County School District in Southern Nevada. Since challenges that he faced in these roles are similar to those found at a good number of Polar clients, Mac has been able to come up to speed very quickly in his new role. Ken Colton, Polar’s Director of Operations, says, “Mac has a breadth of skill in network security and regulatory compliance that makes him a great addition to the Polar team. Plus, he’s a great communicator, and that’s a quality we want on our front lines.”

Mac was raised in Hawaii. He holds a BS in Business Information Services and an MS in Computer Science. He is also a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), the most sought after and respected “manufacturer agnostic” security certification.

In his free time Mac enjoys family activities such as camping and gardening. He has been spending much of his free time with his wife and children enjoying the adventures that come with relocating from Las Vegas to the Pacific Northwest. The decision to move to Portland was based more on his families’ quality of Life opportunities versus his professional opportunities.  “When we decided that we wanted to leave Vegas we narrowed it down to Portland or Denver”, Mac said. “We decided that the abundance of snow in Colorado was a little to scary for a native of Hawaii”, so they decided on Portland, and the team at Polar is thrilled that they did.
